This song somehow captures the stark reality of an actual life and death situation encountered and dealt with by a solo paramedic responder.

Paramedics must fit medical procedures into their work context and consequently, paramedics practice a unique type of care referred to in their occupational literature as prehospital care and transportation of the sick and injured. This care is provided outside of any formal institution, which means in plain language that they practice in the street and perform in a context rife with chaotic, dangerous, and often uncontrollable elements with which hospital-based practitioners need not contend.
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper caught on video cussing and fighting with the driver of an ambulance carrying a patient has been suspended for five days. (July 23)
Everyone who think it’s a fake: Take a look at those videos – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-Jyc6hWdrw – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pc2mgPYKOkE … St. Louis E-10 vs E-28 (Reserve 122), actualy they are quints the city of st louis uses them as engines so they always have a ladder on scene right away if they need it. E-28 flips over after it was hit by E-10.
The fight happened during an emergency call when a patient waiting to be taken to the local hospital was in the back of the ambulance. Officials say OHP troopers became upset after the paramedic failed to yield while the troopers were rushing to a call of their own.
The video was shot by the patient’s son. He says he continually asked the troopers to stop, so his mom could be taken to the hospital. “We’re like telling this dude. ‘Man, my mom is in the back.’ My step-dad was like ‘man my wife is in the back, can we do this at the hospital,’” said Kenyada Davis.
Must have been really important call they were on if they had the time to assault a paramedic on the way.
“Look at that Henderson. This black man has stolen an ambulance and is driving around picking up injured people. Choke him while I sprinkle some crack on him.”
A witness, who declined to go on camera, told The News On 6 the same story.
Witness Diana Walkup says the paramedic never touched anyone until the patrolman grabbed his arm.
“He was yelling, screaming. He was irrational to me,” said witness Diana Walkup.
“I was horrified. I couldn’t believe it. These gentlemen were trying to do their job and they were held up,” She says it was the trooper who was out of control.
“We thought, my God, is he going to pull a gun? That’s really what we thought. We didn’t know if he was fixing to pull a gun or what,”said witness Diana Walkup.
The trooper’s dash-cam video is in the custody of an assistant district attorney in Okfuskee County. She says it will not be released because it’s part of the investigation.
In a statement obtained by The News On 6, paramedic Maurice White said the patrol car came within three feet of the ambulance with its lights on, eventually passing while telling the driver over the emergency radio: “You should consider checking you rearview mirrors.”
After taking care of the original call, the trooper waited for the ambulance and pulled it over. White says in his statement: “The officer got out of his vehicle in a state of rage.”
