This little guy seems to say everything we want to say. He understands that bad things happen to good people….but that is not where our friend’s frustrations lie.

this is awesome. I …
this is awesome. I know where you are coming from and this is so true of what firefighters think when we are enjoying some down time. No matter where you work or volunteer the stories are all so familiar. Keep up the good work.

P.S. We live in a county with ONE fire dpt that has paid FF…the other 10 are all volunteer dpts. but fires don’t care whether you are paid or not…they are equal opportunity killers.

Oryegon, I don’t …
Oryegon, I don’t know what your problem is. Yes, Firefighters/Police/EMS have a job to do. HOWEVER….the above mentioned scenarios are not our job. Usually, when we respond to ridiculous calls, we laugh it off. But think about it. What happens when a real emergency happens and the service/services needed are tied up on the other side of the “area” with one of the above-mentioned “emergencies.” So now, the real emergency has to wait because someone didn’t know when NOT to call 911. GEEZ.

The ironic part is I DO YOUR JOB. I just don’t about it! I hate hearing whining when you KNOW you got a job people kill for.

That’s right, the …
That’s right, the money we get paid. Most firefighters in my area get paid around $10 per hour and work 50-70 hours per week just to pay the bills. Sure, some of the union FF make “big money” (around 45K in my area) but they represent about 20% of the workforce in my area. Oh, yeah, and that includes the “big city” guys running 8-10 thousand calls per year. Get a clue or get over the fact that you are still that you couldn’t do our job if you wanted to.

what does emergency …
what does emergency/non-emergency calls have to do with paid/volunteer? you obviously haven’t talked to any volunteer paramedics or firefighters about this, the sentiment is exactly the same.

Oh! Poor poor …
Oh! Poor poor firefighters. Cry to your Union! Heaven forbid you have to do some civil service here and there! With the $ you bastards get paid, you shouldn’t cry so much about having to do some simple civil chores. Firefighters make me sick!!! The rural firefighters ride on the big city firefighters coat tails! The only honorable firefighters are the ones employed by big cities, and they too have a bad attitude!
