If granted longterm disability, does a NYC Fireman recieve the entire check or a portion of it?

If he retires on a work related disability he receives three quarters of his final year salary tax free.

If he unable to find gainful work he may be also entitled to disability social security insurance.

Okay my finace wants to be a firie. He’s 25, very staunch, strong guy. Anyway his dream job is too be a fireman. And I want him to persue his dream so I told him I’ll find the answer.

Beth how do you know she doesn’t already live there? Anyways, you should go to a local fire-station or look online on how an application can be put through and what qualifications are required.

I’m trying to make a felt fireman’s hat for a cat costume. Tried internet research and now I’m asking you. Anyone have any ideas? Any links? Anything will be helpful

A close personal friend of mine has schizophrenia and wants to be a fireman. Is it possible to have the mental illness and become a fireman still?

I fire man, probably not. I know police/military are definite no. Fireman probably is no also. They are just very dangerous, high stress jobs. Stress can trigger things because of the chemical changes it makes in the brain. And for a bad episode to be triggered at the wrong time could be deadly to him, anyone working with him and people he is trying to help

i heard there is a height limit is that true? i am 5,9
i would love to be a fireman but cannot seem to find info any help please?

Bobby, start by contacting some of the larger UK Fire Departments and asking them for recruitment information, always best to go straight to the source.

Have you ever noticed that the firemen are almost always the first ones to show up when someone calls 911. Usually followed by the police and then the ambulance. Why is that? Is it because firemen have more drills to make their time to show up to the scene quicker? or maybe there are different rules for how fast a firetruck or police car can drive to the scene? Any firemen, police officers, or EMT’s with opinions on this? Just curious.

In my city it is a matter of numbers mostly. We have 4 ambulances in the day and 3 at night. While we run fire apparatus out of 9 stations.

So a fire engine is usually closer than an ambulance.
