I want to be a Fire Fighter, does it make sense to get a Degree in Physical education?

Posted on June 25th, 2010 by admin

I love Working out and I want a degree in Exercise science. But I also want a degree in Fire science to became a fire fighter.
Does getting a bachelor degree in Physical education make any Sense.

Yes, it can help you two ways. First, a promotion may be tied to it and if you don’t like the fire academy you will something to fall back on.

And besides you like it.

What does a fire fighter uniform consists of?

Posted on June 21st, 2010 by admin

I was wondering what the different (American) fire fighter uniforms consists of?

How It’s Made did a segment on firefighter boots that I saw once. Layers and layers, I tell you.

There’s a page on Wikipedia that has a massive list of what firefighters use. Check it out:

One of the best ever greatest hits, the banter is amusing and the music is fantastic, it’s hard to believe that this is improvised.

In My Sister’s Keeper does Brian ever go outside his scope of practice as a fire fighter?

Posted on June 18th, 2010 by admin

He is a fire fighter captain, and he did medical stuff, can he do that?

I have never seen the movie. So I don’t know what kind of medical stuff he did. Typically firefighters are trained and certified in Emergency Medical Care. Its pretty much basic first aid and CPR. But, there are a lot of firefighters that are also certified EMT or Paramedic. So it all depends on what all he is certified in and what he actually did. Plus if you are talking about a movie, don’t always believe what you see in the movies.

How can I start a Junior Fire Fighter Program?

Posted on June 15th, 2010 by admin

I’m 17 and live in Ohio. In my area, none of the volunteer stations will take fire fighters under 18 and none of the stations around have any junior fire fighting programs. Is it possible to try and get a program started at a local station. If so, how could I do it and what are some ideas? Thanks.

The National Volunteer Firefighter Council has an excellent National Junior Firefighter Program you can ask your volunteer fire chief to consider. www.nvfc.org or you can look at having an Explorer Post through the Learning for Life Program. We have an Explorer Post that has affiliation with the NJFP. If you can get a station to sponsor you have them email me (tfd218@hotmail.com) and I will forward them what we use and you can change it up to fit your needs.

I wanna be an air force fire fighter. My recuiter says its one of the hardest jobs in the air force for girls.

Posted on June 7th, 2010 by admin

Im 17 and a senior this year and im joining the air force after i graduate. I wanna be a fire fighter. I grew up in the fire fighter atomosphere because so many people in my family are firefighters.. can i get some advice from anyone who is a fire firghter in the military?

Go for it, Sister!

Firefighting is hard no matter where you do, but there are plenty of Female FFs in the Air Force and the Army. If you love Firefighting, then go with that and you’ll be prepared for when you get out!

Tech school for Fire Dawgs is at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX. I went to my AIT there (I’m an intel guy in the Army, but we share the base, and I’m a voluteer firefighter until I get out and start getting paid to be a firefighter), and it’s a good school.

Have you joined firefighternation.com ? Go check it out! I’m greenman on there too.

P.S. John H. has it right…tell your recruiter it’s Fire fighter or nothing and they’ll work with you.
