Im 17 and a senior this year and im joining the air force after i graduate. I wanna be a fire fighter. I grew up in the fire fighter atomosphere because so many people in my family are firefighters.. can i get some advice from anyone who is a fire firghter in the military?
Go for it, Sister!
Firefighting is hard no matter where you do, but there are plenty of Female FFs in the Air Force and the Army. If you love Firefighting, then go with that and you’ll be prepared for when you get out!
Tech school for Fire Dawgs is at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX. I went to my AIT there (I’m an intel guy in the Army, but we share the base, and I’m a voluteer firefighter until I get out and start getting paid to be a firefighter), and it’s a good school.
Have you joined firefighternation.com ? Go check it out! I’m greenman on there too.
P.S. John H. has it right…tell your recruiter it’s Fire fighter or nothing and they’ll work with you.
