Volunteer fire fighter question?

Posted on June 25th, 2010 by admin

Whats the age limit?…what kind of training will i have to go through?
and do you have to be accepted on. or can you just sign up?
i’m home schooled now..so i dont know how that’d work out.
oh..i’ll be 18 in 2 months. lol

those requirements depend on the specific department. all departments will require you go through rigorous physical, mental and situational training.

find the number for the department you want to volunteer with and call them. someone there can give you all the specifics you need to move further with your plan.

good luck!

what is the correct term when metal wire unravels?

part of fire fighter training ,have been asked to find the answer to this question

Untangle will do the job, but the word "unravel" is used a lot in the literature too. Run a google search and see for yourself.

how do we become fire fighters?

Posted on June 18th, 2010 by admin

my friend and i want be firefighters and we are wondering how we do that.do we have to go to a training school or do we just go to a fire department and sign up and the fire department trains us?

Definitely try to get in with a local volunteer department. You will get some experience, and you will also be able to see if its for you or not. I’m on a paid, full-time dept, and half of our guys started out as volunteers. The dept should take care of your training wherever it may be. Mine sends all of the probies to the state school, while others have their own facilities to conduct training. Just make sure you are in good physical shape, because we may not work every single moment we’re at the station, but its when we do work. Try to get atleast your EMT-B license. Most depts reguire that, and even if they do not, it will give you a greater chance of getting on. Hope this helps, and good luck with it!

I’m a Fire Fighter and EMT in New York looking to go to Haiti to aid in the disaster. Don’t know how. Help!!?

Posted on June 15th, 2010 by admin

Training in Search and Rescue, Crisis Intervention, Heavy Rescue and much more. I can’t find any information on how to link up with a group and go there. Flooding the area with free lancing volunteers makes things worse, so I am looking for groups headed over there looking for people with my qualifications.

A medical staffing company is trying to recruit more than 200 nurses and paramedics with passports who could take part in a Haitian relief mission in the coming days.
Angel Staffing is leading the effort on behalf of a client, said Shannon Ralston, president/CEO Angel Staffing.
Rescuers from Virginia and California are going in first to assess the situation and find out where the need is greatest.
The Texas team would get 48 hours notice before leaving, Ralston said.
Requirements for interested medical personnel are posted on the Angel Staffing Web site at www.angelstaffing.net.

qualifications for air force fire fighter?

Posted on June 7th, 2010 by admin

ok to all fire fighters in the air force, or any other branch what are the qualifications in order to train for this job? please let me know.
i forgot to add what is it with the height and weight requirements? im 5′6 not sure how many inches that is, but if im over weight by a little they wont take me?

The Air Force does not guarantee jobs, so there’s no assurance you’d even get the job. Talk to an Army recruiter who will give you more details and actually guarantee the training if you qualify.
