Posted on July 14th, 2010 by admin

Who has easy receipies for fund raisers for Volunteer Fire Department, need to feed aprox. 200 people. Funds provide Gloves, Shields, Training, anything needed each month for fire fighters all great men and women our way of saying thank you is to provide a good meal the community will want to come to, we need to have receipies that do not cost a lot to prepare and are easy to serve all ideas would be helpful. Please help all Volunteer Departments near you, they are so easy to ignore till you need them

Hi, One of the easiest and most cost effective for a large group is a Spagetti dinner with salad, rolls or garlic bread and dessert. That is what I have used in the past.

I also want to let you know that I have a fundraising page on my website if you would like to take a look at it. Everything is explained and the only thing your group would need to do is get my website address out. http://www.wonderful.myarbonne.com This could be an on going fundraiser for you along with your other fundraisers. If you have any questions please just call me and I will answer your questions. Good luck with your fundraiser.

how many years do fire fighters have to train for and what is the starting rate for pay?

Posted on July 11th, 2010 by admin

Before you can become an active-duty firefighter, you need to spend about 600 hours in training, over the course of 12 to 14 weeks. That’s somewhere between 40 to 48 hours per week, which makes firefighter training a full-time job. Training typically occurs at a fire academy, which is often run by the fire department, a division of the state government or a university.

Much of this training is actually in the classroom. During their academic coursework at the fire academy, students study English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Fire Science in relation to real-life fire situations. To be effective problem solvers and keep up good communication on the job, a firefighter needs to be well-rounded.

The requirements to enter a training program vary from department to department, but typically, firefighters must:

Be at least 18 years old (sometimes 21)
Have a high school diploma or equivalent, though many career fire departments now require a college education
Be physically fit
Have a clean criminal record
Have corrected 20/20 vision

Starting rate of pay will depend on your state.

Recruit Circuits- Firefighter Training

Posted on July 9th, 2010 by admin

We had 47 recruits to train and only 30 minutes including warm up and stretch. We created 3 groups with 8 exercises each. They switched groups every other day. We ran hills and intervals every other day.

Army Fire Fighter info?

Posted on July 8th, 2010 by admin

Is the Army still taking Fire Fighters? If so do you know how often the training is to enlist as one? I would hate for my husband to re-class and have to wait 2 years to get into training. Also anyone know long you usually need to wait before your enlisment is up to be able to re-class/re-enlist?

most are civilians now.

My boyfriend is volunteering to be a fire fighter but..?

Posted on July 5th, 2010 by admin

when he went into the fire department he had to fill out paperwork and asked for his license number..now my boyfriend had a rocky road with his license will this disqualify him from being a volunteer and eventually be a fire fighter after training and ect. if someone has facts that would be great! Also everyone in the department seemed to like him and he was very honest about his rocky road. Please as many people that can answer this would be great but only if you for sure know.

Also they said he will be getting a letter in the mail in a few weeks to confirm everything but we want to know now if this will disqualify him?

This should not disqualify him unless he was specifically applying to be a driver. There are other jobs within the service and in future if he wishes to be a driver then the fire service will give him the required training. Good volunteers are hard to come by.

what do i have to do to become a fire fighter? and some questions?

Posted on July 2nd, 2010 by admin

hey well im a 17 year old girl and i want to become a fire fighter. do i just need to hand in an application? do i need training b4? do i need to do some kind of test or course before i apply like a fire fighting course or will; they just traing me there? what are the chances of a girl becoming a firefighter in the west middlands? what fitness level will i have to be at? the main question is do i have to do a course b4 or will i just need a application? i really dont kno how to go about this as i am a student at college studiing art atm i dunno where to start? any help will be greatly appresiatted thanks jo

I don’t know about England, but in the US you have to take a written test, which includes math and English, as well as some physics. Then depending on how you place, there is a physical test which is very grueling. It’s something you should train for–running (including stairs), lifting (properly!), sometimes swimming. Also, there are fire science courses at local schools, and as the profession gets more competitive, those who have completed some classes will be more likely to get the jobs.

could i be a volunteer fire fighter?

Posted on June 28th, 2010 by admin

ok, so my bf is a fire fighter, and i have put on gear, gone through some of there training (like smoke trailors with obstacles) and have been on an accident he went direct on. blood does not bother me and i’m not closterphobic. my bf and other FF say how they could send me into tight places because I’m 5 foot 2 and 130 lbs. but I don’t know if they are just saying that, or if I could really do it. I think i could probably do it, but I don’t know because i couldn’t do what guys can do. What do you think?

I suggest that if you are really interested, you apply and take the test. There is a written test and a physical test. You must pass both. Hope this helps.
