I can’t believe this kind of racist, stupid, and illegal behavior is still going on in Houston, Texas. I agree with the Councilwoman that the Houston Fire Department needs a federal investigation. What is wrong with the Houston Fire Department ?????
No Best Answer here. One answerer just wanted 2 points and the other just wanted to make a snide remark. No help at all.
what’s wrong with the houston fire department is that it’s in houston and full of houstonians.
My local newspaper had an article about a woman leaving her newborn on the steps of a church-needless to say she’s going to jail. After reading that I remembered someone telling me that you can leave a newborn in either a fire, police department or court house steps (anonymously). Is there any truth to this? And what is it with these women leaving their newborns in public places? Do they think someone will just take it in and nurse it as their own?
I’m certain none of that is legal. It’s all abandonment and wreckless endangerment. Only legal way out for lowly moms who don’t want their child is to give the child up for adoption.

Is it illegal to wear a jacket from a volunteer fire department that has "town name" Fire on the back and a "Volunteer Fire Ambulance" badge on the front?
Not unless you are impersonating one.

My fire department (like most businesses and municipalities) is facing a budget cut and feeling the constraints of the most recent economic situation. Any ideas on how we can trim the budget and/or expand our services to create more revenue so we will not have to lay off firefighters? Note: We cannot canvas for money.
Thanks-
Jeff
Are there any events you can use as fundraisers?
Or maybe paid tours of the firehouse and engines?
Also, try looking at your expenditures and see if there are places for savings – possibly in energy efficient bulbs, more efficient appliances, policies to restrict idling of the trucks, etc.
Good luck!
I am part of the Martha Volunteer Fire Department in Oklahoma and we are currently trying to remodel our station. We need to raise some money to help with the expenses. Our fire department also assists the local racetrack on race nights in case of a fire or injury there. I was just wondering if anyone had any good ideas on something we can do to raise money. We currently hold a a 50/50 drawing at the racetrack but it is not enough. any ideas are welcome
Ask the race track if they would do a night for you guys and donate half the proceeds.
Have a charity Dinner with an auction of donated items.
Seek help from your local united way or chamber of commerce.
Find a grant writer to help you find state and federal grant money you can apply for, it is out there if you know where to look.
Ask for help from your state representative.
This may be a silly question, but I could not find the answer anywhere on the internet! Do you have to pay anyone if the fire department gets called to your house to put out a fire? And if you know, can you post a link to some information if possible? Thank you!
where i live its a volunteer dept.. we as taxpayers pay them taxes each year just like we do for police and schools..
but an ambulance ride will cost at least a grand for basic service
if you need lifeflight it will be at least $5000
