Please help all Volunteer Departments near you, they are so easy to ignore till you need them

Hi, One of the easiest and most cost effective for a large group is a Spagetti dinner with salad, rolls or garlic bread and dessert. That is what I have used in the past.

I also want to let you know that I have a fundraising page on my website if you would like to take a look at it. Everything is explained and the only thing your group would need to do is get my website address out. http://www.wonderful.myarbonne.com This could be an on going fundraiser for you along with your other fundraisers. If you have any questions please just call me and I will answer your questions. Good luck with your fundraiser.

do fire man still ride on the back of th truck sometimes>?

Posted on July 14th, 2010 by admin

ok so i figured that now fire trucks have up to six seats in them. so there would be no need to satnd on the back. however many fire trucks i have seen throughout various cities have places to stand on the back and even bars to hold on to. but i have never seen a firreman actually standing on the back. so do they still ride on the back and what is the purpose of the bar and ledge to stand on?

Modern firetrucks are set up on extended cab chaises, and all the firemen ride inside, wearing their seat belts.

How do I go about becoming a paramedic?

Posted on July 14th, 2010 by admin

In New York State who can I go to to learn about becoming a paramedic? I’ve always wanted to be one but I have no idea how or who to talk to. I know I have to become an EMT first, but how do I do that? There’s only one community college within an hour of me that offers the training and I don’t really know what to say to them or how to go about approaching them. Please help!

One of my friends is a paramedic, you are right, you need to become an EMT first. in order to become an EMT you need to go and get the proper training, I do not live in ny state so I am not sure where those are over there but yes you need to take classes and rack up volunteer hours at a local hospital. Then you need to volunteer at a First Aid Squad where sometimes you will spend the whole night. Wherever you take the classes they should be able to write you a nice recommendation. You will need to study a lot and give up a lot of your free time volunteering. It is a very interesting and rewarding experience from what I hear. So take the classes and volunteer. Tell them you are interested in helping people and becoming a Doctor someday (if you are) and tell them you would really like the experience and to know what to do in an emergency situation. Good luck, sorry for the lengthy answer

Mayor Bill White please listen. What is wrong with the Houston Fire Department?

Posted on July 14th, 2010 by admin

I can’t believe this kind of racist, stupid, and illegal behavior is still going on in Houston, Texas. I agree with the Councilwoman that the Houston Fire Department needs a federal investigation. What is wrong with the Houston Fire Department ?????
No Best Answer here. One answerer just wanted 2 points and the other just wanted to make a snide remark. No help at all.

what’s wrong with the houston fire department is that it’s in houston and full of houstonians.

How many times do Fire Fighters work a day?

Posted on July 14th, 2010 by admin

How many times do they work a day?

It really depends on the area that they are based in. The country and rural areas are called only when needed. The larger cities usually work 12 hours a day. If they are short handed the shifts could be longer. The only sure way to find out is to go to the fire house closest to you and ask. Most places will be glad to answer all your questions. Not be afraid to ask.

What portion of the check does a long term disabled NYC Fireman receive?

Posted on July 14th, 2010 by admin

If granted longterm disability, does a NYC Fireman recieve the entire check or a portion of it?

If he retires on a work related disability he receives three quarters of his final year salary tax free.

If he unable to find gainful work he may be also entitled to disability social security insurance.

If a fire fighter trainee panics in a drill?

Posted on July 14th, 2010 by admin

knowing that it’s a drill, and leaves their pardoner behind should that fire fighter trainee graduate with the rest of the class?

That’s interesting…why would someone panic in a drill, particularly toward the end of fire school (I assume you’re doing your final modules)? I would not be surprised if abandoning your buddy is grounds for failing a training module. After all, if you panic in a drill, how will you behave in a real fire?

On the other hand, in my fire school, you got at least 2 chances to pass each module. Now that the trainee’s messed up and regretted it, perhaps chances of a repeat are slim. Still, I wonder what kind of firefighter would let panic cause a slip up in a drill—worrying about time, I can understand, but true panic?

What kind of underwear should I wear to help prevent chafing etc when I am working wild land fire fighting?

Posted on July 14th, 2010 by admin

Always wear boxer shorts or boxer briefs where possible.

If you need a bit more support briefs may be more practical. Wear what you feel comfortable in. It’s not like anyone’s going to know what you have on underneath.
